NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old boy died after being allegedly beaten up by the driver of goods vehicle for allegedly stealing a coconut from the vehicle at Govindpuri in southeast Delhi on Sunday night. The driver has been arrested and booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder on the basis of the complaint filed by the family members of the child.
According to them, the boy was playing outside the house along with the other children in the locality when their neighbour, Sohanlal, who is a vegetable dealer, had parked his mini-truck containing coconuts in front of his house.
The children, including the victim, had allegedly taken a few coconuts from the vehicle when Sohanlal spotted them. He chased the children and got hold of the victim. Sohanlal allegedly hit him a few times. The boy returned home and told his parents that he had fallen off a cycle. After some time, he started vomiting blood.
