Tablighi case: Delhi court grants bail to Thai and Nepalese nationals

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to Thai and

Nepalese nationals

who were chargesheeted for attending the

Tablighi Jamaat congregation

at the Alami Markaz Banglewali Masjid in Nizamuddin, in violation of visa norms and government guidelines following the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Chief metropolitan magistrate Gurmohina Kaur granted bail to the

foreign nationals

on a personal bond of Rs 10,000 each.

Advocates Ashima Mandla and Mandakini Singh appeared for Thailand nationals, while Fahim Khan represented the Nepalese. The lawyers would be filing the plea bargaining application by Monday.

On Friday, the court had allowed 72 foreign nationals to walk free after imposing a fine and a lenient punishment, while granting bail to another 82 Bangladeshis. Earlier, 60 Malaysians had walked free after paying a fine of Rs 7,000 each under the plea bargaining process.
