'Superhero rally' at North Campus spreads awareness about blood donation

The monsoon morning shower couldn't deter the enthusiasm of students from different colleges of Delhi who had gathered for the Superhero rally at North Campus recently. The rally was organised to spread awareness about blood donation. It was the culmination of a week-long blood donation drive organised by the NGO Blood Connect at

Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro

station, where people could go to donate blood. The Superhero theme was given to the rally to attract the attention of young college students and motivate them to donate blood and save lives.

A cycle rally kick-offVarious superhero themed games were organised at the starting point of the rally, Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro station that ended at Kirori Mal College. The event started with a cycle rally from the Metro station. The event culminated with a zumba session at the college.

, a first-year student of

SGTB Khalsa College

, said, "It was a fun experience. Starting our college life with such a noble causes encourages us to do something good for the society and that too while enjoying it."

Prajval Kumar, a volunteer from IIT Delhi, who was handling a game stall, said, "The motive behind keeping the superhero theme for this rally was to attract more attention of college students who have just joined college. We all know superheroes like Batman, Superman, Ironman are popular among today’s generation. We are giving them chance to be a superhero by donating blood and saving lives."

Students from NSS had also joined the rally. We spotted girls from

Daulat Ram College

too at the rally along with their friends. Nishi Panwar, a student of Daulat Ram College, told us, "I think this was the best way to make the rally interesting. All those who donate blood are real superheroes, so when you donate blood, you become a real superhero."
