NEW DELHI: A media report comparing her with the ‘cyanide killer’ of
Koodathai
had driven Lissy and her son
Allen Stanley
into a depression that triggered their suicide.
The prima facie analysis of their
suicide note
has revealed that the mother-son duo were contemplating to end their lives since the media report in a regional newspaper and an YouTube channel projected them as villains.
In his four-page suicide note written in
Malyalam
, Allen mentioned about the news report, and that he was depressed about it. He also mentioned that the reports were far away from reality. The suicide note has signatures of both of them. Both Allen and Lissy were on anticipatory bail. The preliminary reports of Lissy’s postmortem revealed that she committed suicide.
A close friend of Allen in a social media post said: “For the past six months, Allen and his mother were facing legal battles on property dispute and an investigation regarding the suicide of Allen’s stepfather. These cases had broken them down. However, since they were sure of their innocence, they decided to fight it legally and keep their trust in the judiciary. It was then these shameless reports in the newspaper and on the online portal generated lies about Allen’s mother on October 15. This public humiliation was unbearable for Allen and his mother. Allen, who used to talk to us, stopped communicating after October 15. Our friends in Delhi reached to him, only to see that he and his mother had lost all hope.”
The reports comparing Lissy to the infamous Koodathai murder prime suspect Jolly Thomas were released on October 15. Allen was suicidal and had on the same day tried to force his mother to commit suicide, too, but she did not do so. Another news report on an online portal allegedly defamed them on October 18, which shattered all their hope. They then decided to end their lives. Cut marks were also found on Allen’s wrist.
On Monday, the bodies were handed over to Allen’s elder brother after the postmortem. They would be buried at a cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
