Steer clear of India Gate today

NEW DELHI: Traffic diversions will be put in place on Friday and Saturday on account of Beating the Retreat, at Vijay Chowk and the illumination of Rashtrapati Bhawan, North Block, South Block, Parliament House and India Gate.
The diversions will remain in place between 4 pm-9 .30 pm on both the days, said traffic police. Vijay Chowk is expected to remain closed for general traffic.Traffic will be closed on Rafi Marg between Sunehri Masjid and Krishi Bhawan; on Raisina Road from Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk; beyond Dalhousie Road, Krishna Menon Marg and Sunehri Masjid towards Vijay Chowk, Rajpath between Vijay Chowk and C Hexagon is expected to be completely pedestrianised.
Joint commissioner of police (traffic) Satyendra Garg said: “DTC and other buses will be diverted from normal routes from 4 pm to 9.30 pm. Parking will be available for those who want to see the illumination behind water channels between Rafi Marg and C Hexagon.”
