Star-studded play a huge hit
NEW DELHI: Laughter's the best medicine. Delhi seemed to have taken it to heart on Monday as scores turned up to catch the play Mr & Mrs Karan Johar, a comedy, at the Siri Fort Auditorium. Part of the Times Delhi Festival's Culture Curry theatrical extravaganza, the play starring popular television actors Aman Verma, Delnaazz Paul and Nigaar Khan turned the evening into one of fun and gaiety as audiences lapped up the rib-tickling comedy.
The comedy a tale of a man trying to hide the truth from his wife and in the process, getting mired into deep trouble came to Delhi after successful showings in Dubai, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

However, its the star cast which seemed to have influenced many in the audience to catch the play. Said Shruti Ansal, a young executive who claimed Mr & Mrs Karan Johar was her first play. "It's the first time I am seeing a play on stage, and I'm very excited. I'm sure it will be lots of fun, as Delnaazz is starring in the play, she's a very good comic actor,'' said Ansal. For many others though, Monday evening was a rare opportunity to indulge in theatre. Said Pravin Aggarwal, a businessman who had come all the way from Karol Bagh, "There's been a lot written about the Times Festival, and I thought it's a great opportunity to get a taste of good theatre. The fact that the passes were easily available also made things much easier.''
For the cast of course, the Delhi performance has been a cherished experience. Said Paul, essaying one of the lead roles in the play, "I've done theatre in Delhi before, and its an awesome experience. The fact that because its part of the Times Festival, a lot of the audience is new makes me more excited.'' The excitement in fact was palpable in the Green Room, where the actors were rehearsing minutes before the play started. Said Verma, "Because of some last minute changes in the actors, we've been rehearsing till the last moment.'' Khan meanwhile seemed sure that the play would be appreciated, "It's very funny, and will be fun to watch.'' Audiences certainly seemed to agree on Monday.
