Special commissioner (intelligence)

Balaji Shrivastava

has been asked to take additional charge of the terror cell. However, an officer is likely to be posted there at the earliest as the post of the chief of the anti-terror unit of the national capital cannot remain vacant given the threats from across the border.

Delhi has been on high alert since the surgical strikes and the Special Cell has been co-ordinating with the intelligence agencies, working on alerts and developing information to keep the city secure.

Amulya Patnaik, a 1985-batch officer, will be the second-in-command in Delhi Police after being posted as special commissioner (administration), a post called Golf II in police lingo, from his current profile of the head of the vigilance unit. The police chief is Golf I.

Patnaik’s batchmate, Ajay Kashyap, has been posted as the new traffic chief of the city after

Sandeep Goel

was transferred to

Arunachal Pradesh

. Earlier, Taj Hasan was given the additional charge of traffic after Goel’s transfer.

Kashyap’s profile of in-charge of provision and logistics will be handled by S Nithiyanandam. Kashyap will have a mammoth task of handling the unruly traffic in Delhi. It will be interesting to see what he can bring to the table.
