NEW DELHI: The
Yellow Line
is giving strong competition to Blue Line of late in being the most snag-prone corridor of the
Delhi Metro network. For the second day in a row and fourth time in a fortnight, the Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli-HUDA City Centre) faced a technical snag, resulting in thousands of passengers facing a harrowing time on Tuesday evening.
The snag first occurred between Sultanpur and HUDA City Centre stations at 7.10pm, which left thousands of passengers stranded at the stations or in trains. Commuters complained of overcrowding at stations and trains, which led to many feeling suffocated.
"Trains on Yellow Line faced minor delay from 7.10pm due to a signalling issue at HUDA City Centre station. The problem was rectified around 8.10pm," a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson said. While DMRC claimed there was only minor bunching of trains, commuters complained they had to wait for nearly half an hour at many stations to get a train.
Rashi Singh, a commuter, tweeted that trains were coming at intervals of 25 minutes.
