New Delhi: Calling the Delhi CM a “master of U-turns”, home minister Amit Shah said Monday while the alleged liquor scam was being probed, seven more investigations were pending against AAP govt, including DJB, classroom and fake medicine scams, report Abhinav Rajput & Akshat Rajan.
Shah also referred to the alleged assault of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, saying, “If a Rajya Sabha MP is beaten up in the CM’s residence, can he keep the women of Delhi safe?” He was addressing a rally at Sangam Vihar in support of BJP’s Ramvir Singh Bidhuri.
Shah targets AAP at rally, claims Kejriwal has taken many u-turnsShah said, “Who carried out the Rs 2,875 crore liquor scam, the Rs 78,000 crore Delhi Jal Board scam, the Rs 5,000 crore classroom renovation scam, the Rs 1,000 crore fake medicine scam, Rs 4,000 crore lab X-Ray scam, the Rs 2,000 crore panic button scam? Who pulled off the Rs 1,000 crore bus purchase scam, and who got the Rs 125 crore Sheesh Mahal (CM’s official residence) built?” Shah added, “Kejriwal ji, only the liquor scam has been investigated, investigation of seven scams is pending,” he said.
“Kejriwal took a pledge of unseating the then Congress govt and sending Congress leaders to jail for corruption, but now for the sake of power, he is sitting in their lap and fighting the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
The AAP convener’s “oddeven” formula, Shah said, involved giving speeches againstcorruption on odd days andforming a “ghamandiya alliance with the corrupt” on evendays. “On odd days, he seeks theresignation of others, and oneven days, he goes to jail without resigning,” he said. TheAAP govt was a “3G sarkar”, hesaid — “ghotala (scam),ghooskhori (bribery) and ghaplebazi (embezzlement)”.
Sangam Vihar, which is the largest unauthorised colony in the capital, is home to several congested neighbourhoods, with sewage and water problems in several blocks. Shah took a dig at AAP over water problems, saying, “AAP karyakartas have become tanker mafia and are sucking the blood of south Delhi people.”
Accusing Kejriwal of making several U-turns, from form ing a political party to becoming CM, he said the Delhi CM had said he would not avail of VIP facilities, security, and bungalow but enjoyed all these facilities and went on to build the “Sheesh Mahal” as well. “I request you to show your house to a hundred esteemed people from all seven constituencies,” he said, adding that CM’s residence was more opulent than the ones owned by billionaires.
Shah urged voters to choose BJP on May 25 polls with “aggres sion” to remind Kejriwal that he has to go back to Tihar jail. Shah said every vote given to Bidhuri will make Narendra Modi PM for the third term and ensure a united, strong India. Shah asserted that according to his information, the BJP-led NDA has won around 270 seats in the phases completed so far and would cross the 400-mark in the remaining phases.
He attacked both Congress and AAP over the issues of Pakoccupied Kashmir and Ram temple as well, asking the crowd, “Is PoK ours or not?” He accused INDIA bloc of trying to scare the country by citing’s Pakistan’s nuclear bombs. “Listen, Rahul Baba (Rahul Gandhi), PoK will be taken back by us,” Shah said. He also targeted Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his statement, “What do people of other states have to do with Kashmir?” Shah said, “Kharge Maharaj has crossed 80 years of age but could not understand Bharat. Everyone in the country can sacrifice his life for Kashmir.” Reacting to Shah’s comments, AAP said: “It is ironical that the most corrupt party in Indian history (BJP) is calling others corrupt. If any of the functionaries of AAP were corrupt, they would’ve joined BJP and come out clean from its washing machine. All investigations would’ve been dropped like it happened in the case of Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal and countless others. Unlike BJP jumlas, Arvind Kejriwal ji has fulfilled all guarantees, whether it is free power, water, education, healthcare or pilgrimage for the elderly and the now-guaranteed Rs 1,000 monthly to each woman,” it added. “On the contrary, BJP has always duped the public with false promises, such as Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts, bullet train, doubling farmer incomes and 2 crore jobs every year,” it said.
