NEW DELHI: Admissions under the third cutoff list at Delhi University could get extended by a day as very few applications were finalised on second day with servers down from early Monday morning.

The third such glitch in the DU system since admissions began on June 19, it led to anxiety among the aspirants with many of them doubting their chances of getting admission. University officials, meanwhile, said that their "internet cables" were damaged and that they will "provide extra time to give chances to all aspirants".

Nandini Agarwal, who arrived from Jaipur on June 30 - the first day of the third cutoff admissions - said, "I got 95.75% marks in Class XII. I was sure I'll get into mathematics and so I went to Sri Venkateswara College on Saturday. But they said that as my marks are more I should come for admission on the third day."

She, however, went to Ramjas College on Monday, as "I was unsure if I'll get a seat at Sri Venkateswara". But she couldn't access the forms as the university's portal could not be accessed. "I am not sure if I'll now get admission in DU," said Nandini.

Another aspirant, Delhi resident Pranshu Singh, who came to

Kirori Mal College

after withdrawing his application from Hansraj, said "I 've been worried sick the whole day as I was unable to access the DU website. If I don't get admission here then I am not sure what I will do," he said.

A DU official said grievance cell has "written to higher authorities to extend admissions date. We're awaiting confirmation from the vice-chancellor."
