NEW DELHI: Residents of R K Puram Sector-I are a disillusioned lot. Reason: Despite repeated complaints to the concerned (or unconcerned) authorities, the filth and rubble dump lying in front of the municipal park in the colony, there has been no action. The resident's welfare association (RWA) had complained about the dump to the officials in MCD (Horticulture), CPWD (Horticulture) and the area CPWD.
The MCD control room even issued two separate complaint numbers 1006 on August 16 and 1086 on August 20, but all in vain.
Authorities have simply not bothered to act on their promises. "I don't have any knowledge of the issue. I will ask the Control Room to take action against the complaint lodged," said D R Shah, assistant commissioner, south zone, MCD. While the residents managed to remove the rubble lying in front of the park gate, the pile lying in other places, has concretised and has weed growing all over. Children playing or cycling near the park have often got injured thanks to these. "We removed the pile in front of the gate so that, one could at least, enter the park. The entry to the park was blocked initially. Also, the rains helped dissolving quite a bit. But a huge pile lies as it is," said S C Tiwari, Secretary R K Puram Sector-1 Flats. "The malba consists of broken glass pieces and stones. People have slipped and fallen and got badly hurt. While the pile has eroded after the rains, it still makes our colony look dirty which is otherwise clean and well maintained," said S C Pant, a resident of the colony. "Inspite of our requests, no authority paid heed to us and the concrete dump lies untouched," said K C Tiwari, Secretary of R K Puram Sector-1 flats.
