Rs 13 lakh missing from cash van

At Preet Vihar in east Delhi, Rs 13 lakh went missing from the cash van of Corporation Bank on Saturday morning.

NEW DELHI: At Preet Vihar in east Delhi, Rs 13 lakh went missing from the cash van of Corporation Bank on Saturday morning. The police later registered a case of theft.
The theft took place outside the bank's ATM in the Nirman Vihar shopping complex. The van carrying Rs 13 lakh each in six suitcases arrived there around 11 am.
There were three men in the van driver Tilak Ram, guard Ram Avtar and cashier Alok Chaturvedi.

While Chaturvedi went inside with one of the suitcases to dump the cash in the ATM, the others waited outside.
During Chaturvedi's absence, guard Ram Avtar went to ease himself. He returned after a few minutes. When Chaturvedi returned around 11.30 am, one of the five suitcases was missing.

He then called up the police. The police subjected the guard and driver to thorough questioning and later said that the locks of one of the main doors was found tampered with. No arrests have been made yet.
