New Delhi: Dismissing the purported CAG report as "manufactured and baseless", AAP functionary Priyanka Kakkar on Saturday accused BJP of fabricating false allegations against Delhi govt.
Addressing a press conference, Kakkar alleged that the report presented by BJP was not authentic and was neither seen by key stakeholders, including CM and LG, nor listed on the CAG's official website.
"The report they are showing is fake and manufactured in their office. It holds no credibility. This is the same strategy BJP uses repeatedly to mislead people with false allegations," Kakkar claimed.
"Even in the past, they levelled allegations against us on the liquor policy issue and received scolding from the Supreme Court. The apex court stated in its judgment that CBI was found to be working like a caged parrot and that ED was acting with malice. The PMLA court order clearly stated there wasn't even a shred of evidence worth a penny against Arvind Kejriwal," she added.
AAP's chief spokesperson alleged that it was under BJP-led central govt that the cost of the Dwarka Expressway project increased from the initial estimate of Rs 550 crore to Rs 7,500 crore. "Instead of addressing such instances of corruption, BJP is busy making fake allegations," Kakkar said, further alleging that the saffron party was filling its own pockets under the guise of schemes like Ayushman Bharat.
The AAP functionary praised former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and called him a leader who "transformed" the capital through initiatives such as free electricity, water, world-class education, healthcare, and free bus rides for women. She also termed BJP as a "faceless and directionless party" that thrived on "baseless accusations and misinformation".
Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav alleged Kejriwal was trying to hide the CAG report and didn't table it in the assembly for discussion to cover up his corruption in the case. "It was the Delhi Congress which first complained to LG about corruption in the implementation of the liquor policy. There was a huge scam in granting licences in direct violation of the Delhi Excise Rules 2010. There was a huge scam in pricing of two brands of Indian Made Foreign liquor," he claimed further.
