Rapid growth in rural areas after AAP formed govt
NEW DELHI: Rejecting the lieutenant governor's claims that the villages in the city lacked basic amenities, development minister Gopal Rai said rapid growth had taken place in these areas ever since AAP had come to power here.
Rai claimed that no other government had been able to do as much development work in Delhi as the AAP government under the leadership of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
"New roads, drains and community centres were built in villages through Delhi Gram Vikas Board. The government has opened mohalla clinics to provide free and quality healthcare to people closer to their homes," the minister said. Villages are also receiving 24-hour electricity and arrangements for water and sewer lines have been laid, he added.
"Numerous development projects are underway at a war footing in the villages," Rai said. The government stated that it had granted approval for 167 projects worth Rs 115.5 crore in August.
