NEW DELHI: Probe into the Class XII CBSE
paper leak
has revealed that the principal of
DAV Centenary Public School
in Una and the bank manager at
Union Bank of India
were negligent in allowing the prime accused,
Rakesh Kumar, to conduct the exam single-handedly, which gave him powers to enter and exit the strong rooms at the bank with any document without being questioned.
The
Delhi Police SIT
has sent a recommendation to
CBSE to initiate departmental actions against both of them. Police said that the principal,
Atul Mahajan
, had appointed Rakesh Kumar as the exam coordinator while only the principal of the school is usually asked to coordinate exams. Police officers said that Mahajan had transferred his responsibility to Kumar saying that he was the senior-most teacher at the school. He had also sent a note to CBSE with his recommendation announcing Kumar’s appointment.
Kumar was given charge of conducting exams for two other schools in the vicinity due to which he was given free access to the exam centre and the bank. Police officers said Mahajan did not even supervise Kumar during this. In fact, it was found that the principal was on leave on the day of the examination.
It was also found that on the day the paper was leaked, the bank manager Sher Singh had handed over the keys of the strong room to the bank cashier, Om Prakash. Ideally, the bank manager issues the paper to the exam coordinator after verifying the unique code number printed on each paper and counting them physically. Here, Om Prakash had allowed Rakesh to enter the strong room and collect the papers.
