NEW DELHI: Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University and the family members of missing student Najeeb Ahmed were stopped midway from marching to Parliament on Wednesday.
Alleging that her son is in captivity, Ahmed’s mother Fatima Nafees said the CM of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, had assured her help in finding him. “Akhilesh ji had assured me of all help. He said UP Police would be searching for my son as he is a child of his state,” she said.
JNU Students’ Union president Mohit Pandey questioned why the police is still unable to find Ahmed even though, according to them, he has been sighted at different places.

“The police have seen him in Aligarh and Darbhanga, but are still unable to locate him. It has now been 38 days since he went missing.”
Former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar was also part of the protest rally, but did not address the students. Umar Khalid, who was charged with sedition along with Kumar earlier this year, questioned the claims by the police of Ahmed being spotted in some cities.
