NEW DELHI: Ranjeet Verma, prime accused in the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) paper leak case, and his younger brother, Satinder Verma, surrendered before a magistrate in Karkardooma court on Monday at 4 pm.
The Verma brothers were accompanied by their father, O P Verma. Their advocate S K Ahluwalia was also present in the court.
Since the brothers surrendered at 4 pm, metropolitan magistrate Shahabuddin, the concerned court for New Ashok Nagar where the case is registered did not hear the case.
Instead, metropolitan magistrate Chandrashekhar heard the matter. "They have been sent to judicial custody for two days. On Wednesday, they would be produced before Shahabuddin who will decide whether to send them to police custody or jail," said an officer.
While surrendering before the court, the Verma brothers also moved an application levelling allegations against the police. Their advocate Ahluwalia said the police had detained O P Verma for four days in order to pressurise his sons to surrender.
"On Sunday evening, a sub-inspector from Dev Nagar office of the Crime Branch came to their house in Padav Nagar and took away O P Verma''s wife and daughter. Their whereabouts are still not known," Ahluwalia alleged.
A list of articles, reportedly seized from the Vermas, has been given to the court.
