In a significant development, three-time BJP MLA Vijender Gupta was elected as the new Speaker. The session also highlighted the linguistic diversity of the legislature, with MLAs taking their oaths in six languages—Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Maithili, and Punjabi.

Additionally, this session signified the BJP’s shift to the right side of the Speaker’s chair, reinforcing its new role in the assembly.

The session marks a significant shift in the 70-member assembly, with the BJP occupying the right side of the speaker's chair and AAP, which secured 22 seats, sitting in opposition on the left.

The BJP had a decisive victory in the February 5 elections, winning 48 of the 70 seats, bringing an end to AAP's decade-long rule in Delhi.

The assembly's proceedings began with the singing of "Vande Mataram," and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva was seen in the speaker's gallery, observing the session.

On February 25, lieutenant governor VK Saxena will address the assembly, followed by the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports.
