As the cold wave intensifies, shelter facilities are experiencing increased occupancy from people seeking refuge from the severe cold conditions.

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius on Monday, with a thin fog layer enveloping the city. The foggy conditions caused delays in numerous flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts foggy conditions in Delhi for five days from January 28, with minimum temperatures expected between 7-11 degrees Celsius.

Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh experienced dense fog on Monday, causing visibility issues. Additionally, devotees visited Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya despite foggy conditions.

The AQI classification system defines readings of 0-50 as "good", 51-100 as "satisfactory", 101-200 as "moderate", 201-300 as "poor", 301-400 as "very poor", and 401-500 as "severe".

Large crowds have gathered at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh. The IMD forecasts minimum temperatures of 8-10 degrees Celsius in Prayagraj for three days from January 28.

The Mahakumbh, occurring every 12 years, is deeply rooted in Sanatan Dharma, representing an auspicious period of spiritual purification during specific celestial alignments.
