NEW DELHI: After protests from students and different political outfits over the alleged shutting down of gates of the iconic Parthasarathy Rocks in the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus, the administration on Sunday clarified that these are rumours and no such decision was taken.

The administration on Sunday stated that a lock was put up as a temporary measure due to repair work. Stating that some miscreants uprooted the gate in the night of October 19-20, the administration stated that "this amounts to criminal offence of damaging public/university property and investigations are on to find the culprit."

It added that PSR has been found to be misused and to maintain security, the area will only remain open from 5.30am to 7.30pm and only students who have valid ID cards can enter it.

JNUSU called the time limit "part of a grand design to curb freedom of movement in the campus".
