NEW DELHI: A Pakistani High Commission official was detained and a former Indian Air Force official arrested on charges of espionage by the the Delhi Police on Friday.

NEW DELHI: A Pakistani High Commission official was detained and a former Indian Air Force official arrested on charges of espionage by the the Delhi Police on Friday.
Police officials said the former IAF official, Naresh Kumar Dagar, was arrested while handing over classified defence documents to Pakistani official, Amir Shabbir. He had collected Rs 10,000 from Shabbir which were recovered from his possession.
Police said they had been tipped off that Dagar was selling secrets to Pakistan.

A team of special cell officials, led by ACP L N Rao and inspector Raman Lamba, was asked to investigate.
Investigations revealed that Dagar would meet Shabbir near Pragati Maidan on Friday evening. A trap was laid and Dagar was spotted. The police let Dagar take the money before they sprung the trap and nabbed both Dagar and Shabbir.
Dagar was questioned at length and reportedly told the police that he had been selling information to Pakistan since 1992. He told the police that he had joined the IAF as an airman in 1979. He had retired in 1994. In 1992 he came in contact with some Pakistani officials and started working for them.
Over the last decade, Dagar allegedly sold several sensitive documents and was paid about Rs three lakh by the Pakistanis.
