NEW DELHI: Gangster Deepak Boxer has revealed during interrogation that his entire journey was being coordinated by a Pakistani national based in Mexico. This mysterious character, by the name Ali, picked him up from outside San Salvador airport on March 1 after which they drove to Mexico City in a taxi, Boxer said.
Once there, he was asked to wait for his turn to be placed on a 'donkey ride' to entter the US.
However, Indian law enforcement agencies foiled his plans and secured his custody. Boxer is learnt to have taken at least eight flights between January 6 and March 1 to reach Mexico. After leaving from Kolkata airport on January 6, Boxer supposedly reached Dubai and stayed there for about three weeks before flying to Kazakhstan.
On February 2, he took a flight from Almaty airport in Kazakhstan to Istanbul. He remained there for two days and took a flight to Panama City on February 5. He then took a connecting flight to Port of Spain on the same day and stayed there for a day.
Boxer has told cops that he flew from Port of Spain to Paramaribo in Suriname on February 7 and stayed there for about two weeks while waiting for further instructions from Ali.
"Ali again contacted him on February 27 and asked him to board a Copa airline flight to Panama City and take a connecting flight to San Jose in Costa Rica the same day," said a senior police officer. On March 1, he took his final flight to Sal Salvador from San Jose and was picked up there by Ali. The cops have corroborated these details from his passport.
Initial probe has revealed that Ali was a "donker" who had been introduced to Boxer by another fugitive gangster Goldi Brar. Donkers are agents who get migrants from different countries to Mexico and Panama and then smuggle them into the USA.
Boxer was being helped by Brar as the former promised to carry out killings for him. While he was on the run, Boxer spoke to Lawrence Bishnoi in jail a couple of times on Brar's instructions using Signal and Telegram. Cops got to know about his location after tracing the internet IP addresses being used by him.
Boxer is currently being interrogated by a special team led by special commissioner HGS Dhaliwal and efforts are under way to ascertain his involvement in crimes while he was on the run. He is on police remand for a week. Cops are likely to confront him with jailed gangster Dinesh Karala to know more about the three murders carried out by their gang.
