Nursery entry: Points for babus' kids
Some schools in Delhi have decided to give preference to children of bureaucrats and also to the wards of national-level achievers in art or music.
These norms are to be approved by the directorate of education (DoE) within four weeks to help the schools begin their admission process.
According to the latest high court order, schools are free to fix their own parameters for admitting students as long as they take into account certain government-specified norms and get their set of parameters cleared by DoE.
Though some schools are sticking to the uniform parameters fixed by the government, some have decided to give preference to children of bureaucrats and also to the wards of national-level achievers in art or music, aiming at a heterogeneous mix in classrooms.
