Nuh-Mewat a security blindspot? Spy rings to terror hideouts pose tough intelligence challenge
NEW DELHI: A series of high-profile arrests and terror-linked investigations have pushed Nuh district into the spotlight, with central agencies flagging concerns about an alleged cross-border intelligence network and a parallel “white-coat terror module” tied to Al-Falah University.
In the latest crackdown, the Central Investigation Agency, assisted by Nuh district police, arrested a young lawyer, Rizwan, from Kharkhadi village in Tauru subdivision. Officials said he was booked for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s ISI.
A case has been registered at Tauru Sadar police station under sections related to anti-national activities.
This is the third espionage-related arrest from Nuh/Mewat this year.
Before Rizwan, Haryana Police had arrested:
Agencies have zeroed in on a small stretch of Hidayat Colony in Nuh where the blast’s key accused, Dr Umar Un Nabi, allegedly stayed for 10 days before driving to Delhi.
Investigators found that:
Four Nuh residents — three doctors and a fertiliser trader — detained for suspected links to Umar have been released.

The repeated arrests have heightened concerns among intelligence agencies about the emergence of an alleged ISI-linked espionage network operating from parts of Nuh/Mewat.

Young Lawyer Held For ‘Spying For ISI’
In the latest crackdown, the Central Investigation Agency, assisted by Nuh district police, arrested a young lawyer, Rizwan, from Kharkhadi village in Tauru subdivision. Officials said he was booked for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s ISI.

Before Rizwan, Haryana Police had arrested:
- Mohammad Tarif (May), from Kangarka village, for allegedly sharing sensitive military information with Pakistani handlers and supplying Indian SIM cards to operatives linked to Pakistan High Commission.
- Arman, from Rajaka village, for using more than 15 mobile phones and maintaining contact with 70 Pakistan-based numbers, saved under coded aliases like “Ashan Don” and “G”
Nuh Again In Frame
Simultaneously, Nuh is also central to the Delhi car blast of November 10, in which 15 people were killed.Agencies have zeroed in on a small stretch of Hidayat Colony in Nuh where the blast’s key accused, Dr Umar Un Nabi, allegedly stayed for 10 days before driving to Delhi.
The Hidayat Colony Safehouse
- The rented room in Hidayat Colony belongs to a man currently in jail in another case.
- The accommodation was arranged through an electrician working at Al-Falah University.
- CCTV footage shows Umar arriving in his i20 “multiple times,” with teams analysing the pattern of movement for indications of reconnaissance, supply pickups or route surveys.
- Umar is suspected to have used alternate routes to avoid main lanes leading from Delhi-Alwar road.
Four Nuh residents — three doctors and a fertiliser trader — detained for suspected links to Umar have been released.
From University Hospital To A Terror Module
Another Nuh resident, Soyab, arrested on Wednesday, is alleged to have played a key support role.Investigators say:
- Soyab worked as a compounder and ward boy at Al-Falah University hospital, a job he got through Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie, another accused arrested earlier.
- Muzammil reportedly gained access to Soyab’s home and community through medical assistance and prescriptions, gradually building trust.
- It was through Muzammil that Soyab met Umar and allegedly helped him secure the Hidayat Colony room through his sister-in-law.
Explosives Ground In A Faridabad Room
In Faridabad’s Dhauj village, investigators recovered:- A grinder and electrical machinery allegedly used by Muzammil to pulverise chemicals for explosive preparation.
- Nearly 3,000 kg ammonium nitrate and other materials from two rooms linked to Umar and Muzammil.
Diaries seized from Al-Falah University rooms contained:
- Coded references
- Over 2,500 names from J&K, Faridabad and nearby regions
- Dates from November 8–12
- Repeated mentions of the word “operation”
