NEW DELHI: After further investigations into the
Ramjas College admission scam which, confirmed the involvement of students involved in
Delhi University politics, the
Delhi Police on Monday arrested two persons including
NSUI member Vardhan Choudhary and an Aurobindo College graduate - Ashwani Rajput. Choudhary, who was the Vice-Presidential candidate of NSUI in 2010 Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections, had lost the election to his ABVP opponent Priya Dabas by around 1,500 votes.
He is presently a final year B.Com student of Ramjas College. Police officials said his involvement has been confirmed in one fake admission while Ashwani Rajput, who reportedly belongs to an influential family, has been found involved in atleast three fake admissions.
Delhi Police has registered 35 cases till now in the fake admission racket in Ramjas. On Saturday evening, police had arrested another staffer of Ramjas College, Raje Singh, who is an office assistant and Kuldeep Khapara, an ex-student of Ramjas College for being part of a third gang that was running the admission racket. Sources said Choudhary was involved in fake admissions apart from Naresh Tau and
Anurag Sharma, the two accused persons who were running separate gangs. Rajput, police said, had taken the help of Naresh Tau in one admission out of three. Sources said that more student politicians could be involved in the racket.
