Two burglaries and a burglary attempt in the same neighbourhood in east Delhi have left residents shocked on Saturday morning.

NEW DELHI: Two burglaries and a burglary attempt in the same neighbourhood in east Delhi have left residents shocked on Saturday morning.
Unknown robbers robbed the locked house of an NRI couple Aswini Kumar and Kamla Devi, who reside in Italy, making off with 10,000 euros in cash (roughly Rs 5,50,000) and expensive watches and other valuables on Friday night.

Hardly a few metres away, another house was broken into early Saturday morning.
The owner of the house, Girish Vajpayee, had gone to visit his native village in Lucknow and the amount of valuables looted is still unknown. Robbers tried breaking into another house in the neighbourhood. Said a senior police officer,
"When the robbers were trying to break the lock of the house, the owner of the house S P Gupta was alerted and he raised a hue and cry. The incident occurred around 4am and he saw four men running away. It is yet not clear whether all the robberies were conducted by the same gang. We are investigating the case.''
