Now, reward on absconding IM terrorists

Three months after the September 13 serial blasts, commissioner of police Y S Dadwal on Tuesday announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on the 10 absconding terrorists of Indian Mujahideen (IM), the outfit that claimed responsibility for the blasts.

NEW DELHI: Three months after the September 13 serial blasts, commissioner of police Y S Dadwal on Tuesday announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on the 10 absconding terrorists of Indian Mujahideen (IM), the outfit that claimed responsibility for the blasts.
The reward will hold for a period of one year for anyone who provides information on the terrorists.

The police had already arrested and chargesheeted five terrorists. Pakistan-based Amir Reza Khan, gangster-turned-terrorist Riyaz Bhatkal, his brother Iqbal Bhatkal too are wanted by Delhi Police and a reward of Rs 1 lakh each has also been announced on them.
On September 13, nine bombs were planted at different places in the Capital out of which five went off and four were diffused. The blasts killed six people and injured 133.
The Delhi Police have registered five different cases at different police stations. Subsequently, the special cell carried out the Batla House encounter on September 19 in which two terrorists, including IM commander Atif Ameen and Mohammad Sajid were killed while two others, Ariz Khan and Shahzad Ahmad managed to escape. One of the terrorists, Mohammad Saif was apprehended by the police.
A day later, the police arrested Zeeshan Ahmad, Mohammad Shakeel, Zia-ur-Rehman and Saquib Nisar, who allegedly planted the bombs. Those who are at large are Ariz Khan (23), Shahzad Ahmad (20), Mohammad Sajid Bada (22), Mirza Sadab Baig (25), Mohammad Khalid (25), Dr Shahnawaj (brother of Saif) (28), Mohammad Hakim (23) (Hawala operator), Asadullah Akhtar (23), Salman (19), Mohammad Khalid (25). All the accused are residents of Azamgarh in UP.

The Mumbai police had arrested six persons including Mohammad Mansoor Asghar Peerbhoy, the principal software engineer who sent the terror emails. All six were also part of the conspiracy in the serial blasts. The founder of IM, Amir Reza Khan, based in Pakistan along with gangster Riyaz Bhatkal and Iqbal Batkal are wanted in the case.
The special cell of Delhi Police had filed two chargesheets in connection with the blasts and soon plan to seek custody of Peerbhoy for interrogation, after which the third chargesheet will be filed.
