NEW DELHI: After Lajpat Nagar flyover, wide gaps between girders have been reported on Akshardham flyover in east Delhi. PWD carried out an inspection of the flyover on Tuesday.
Though the gaps are not as wide as the ones found in Lajpat Nagar flyover, officials said 4-5 expansion joints will have to be replaced. The matter came to light following a complaint by a local.
“The gap is not very wide, but it needs repair,” said an official.
“We carried out the inspection on Tuesday. The report will be submitted to a senior official and a decision will be taken in a day or two,” said a PWD official.
PWD officials said the plan will be discussed with traffic police as traffic has to be diverted. The flyover is crucial in providing signal-free access to Noida-bound traffic from central and east Delhi. tnn
