NEW DELHI: A celebrity-studded event in the Capital on Sunday evening marked the launch of Finest Rice Recipes, a beautiful hardcover collection of 50 recipes using basmati rice.
A tribute to the long-grain rice variety, the book is a presentation of the house of LT Overseas Ltd, India's leading processor and exporter of packaged rice foods and the owners of the Dawaat brand.
It was released by fashion designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Compiled by noted food critic Sabina Sehgal Saikia, and published by Times Group Books, Finest Rice Recipes makes a perfect gift for food lovers.
The book covers a spectrum of rice recipes, created by world-class chefs. Speaking on the occasion, V K Arora, chairman, LT Overseas, said, "We are glad to launch this book as being the largest exporter of rice we wanted the world to have a taste of rice in various forms."
"It was a challenge for us to come out with such a cookbook. However, Sabina made it possible for us by getting distinguished chefs to lend their expertise," he added. Said Sabina Sehgal Saikia, the editor of the book: "Our greatest triumph would be if common people use it."
After the launch of the book, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni said: "I hope this book will enhance my culinary skills and will help me do well in the kitchen."
The book is compilation of 50 creative rice recipes that can be duplicated in any kitchen regardless of the culinary skill level involved. Chefs from five star hotels like The Claridges, Taj Mahal Hotel, The Oberoi, ITC Maurya, JP Residency among others have contributed recipes.
At the event, the chefs prepared and served the 50 recipes featured in the cookbook. The evening included a dance performance and an awards ceremony in which four readers of The Times of India were given gift hampers by LT Overseas for the best rice recipes contributed by them.
