NEW DELHI: Traders have written to Union minister for housing & urban development Hardeep Puri for early notification of the Delhi Master Plan 2041 after getting it passed by a group of ministers.

Traders said that the process is already running late and despite the approval of the draft plan in March by the lieutenant governor, things have not been finalised.

"The draft was sent to the Union ministry for notification in the middle of April and later it was shared with the group of ministers (central government). The notification will be issued after getting the approval of the group of ministers," said chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), Brijesh Goyal.

CTI president Subhash Khandelwal said over two years have passed since the process for finalising Master Plan 2041 began. "There are many questions in businessmen's minds. To what extent will the de-sealing of shops be taken up? How will the floor area ratio increase? What will be the provision for parking and market redevelopment? What facilities will be available to promote nightlife? What will be the contribution of the master plan to taking the tourism sector to new heights?" said Khandelwal. Traders have also demanded the implementation of a plan for 10 years instead of 20 years.
