No disruption in PNG supply to hospitals, says IGL

New Delhi: Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) on Saturday clarified that piped natural gas (PNG) supply to hospitals has not been stopped and no disruption is expected.

The company said the advisory issued was only a precautionary step in view of uncertainties in global LNG supply and did not indicate any halt in gas supply.




A report published in The Times of India on March 14, "PNG Supply may be hit, IGL asks hosps to be ready", was based on the advisory issued by the company and the arrangements that hospital authorities were contemplating in case of a disruption. The story nowhere said that the supply had been stopped or disrupted in any manner.

In an advisory issued on March 9, the company stated: "While IGL is undertaking all reasonable efforts to maintain uninterrupted PNG supply to you, we recommend maintaining adequate alternate fuel arrangements as a contingency, as per clause 2.1 of the Gas Sale Agreement."

In a statement sent to TOI on Saturday, IGL said that it continues to coordinate with suppliers to manage gas availability and ensure supply for all essential services, including hospitals.
