NEW DELHI: To ensure uninterrupted power supply if transmission lines are damaged due to heavy storm or rain, Delhi Transco Limited has launched an emergency restoration system(ERS).
According to power department officials, this system will ensure quick restoration if a high voltage transmission line is damaged. "This is first time in Delhi that this system has been used.

With the introduction of this system, Delhi Transco Limited will, in an unforeseen emergency, be able to restore power in the shortest possible time" said Shakti Sinha CMD, Delhi Transco.
Meanwhile, power cuts continued, particularly in west and south Delhi. Outages were reported fromC R Park, Greater Kailash, Kalkaji, Okhla, Sukhdev Vihar in south and Nangloi, Chand Vihar, Rajouri Garden, Tilak Nagar and Uttam Nagar. In Nangloi residents complained of 12-hour long power cut due to a local snag.
On Sunday night a fault in BRPL's 33kV East of Kailash circuit led to power cuts in the area. Transco, however, claimed that the areas were back fed from the 220 kV Masjid Moth substation and the load shedding was for a short duration.
