Waqf Board has decided to employ his younger
brother
Haseeb Ahmed as an engineer with the board. The board’s chairman, Amanatullah Khan, also provided Rs 5 lakh compensation to Ahmed’s family.
Speaking to TOI, 25-year-old Haseeb, a civil engineer, said since the completion of his course in 2017 from Bareilly, he has been unemployed and spending his time travelling with his mother.
“I have only been travelling with my mother for her speech to different cities where she is called to deliver a talk on various issues and problems our family has faced in the past three years,” he said.
Najeeb Ahmed was a first year MSc Biotechnology student at JNU who went missing under suspicious circumstances on October 15, 2016 — a night after allegedly getting involved in a scuffle.
On Saturday, Haseeb was asked to come to Delhi from Badaun by the Delhi government officials. “They asked me to bring my CV, and based on my credentials, offered me a permanent
job
. They also gave us Rs 5 lakh to bear the legal fees to file a petition against CBI for closing the case,” Haseeb said.
Meanwhile, Khan said that, “The family has been suffering for nearly three years and we wanted to help them. Considering several legal battles they have fought, we decided to help them financially and also offered a job to Haseeb based on his credentials.”
