NEW DELHI: In a shocking case of a

theft gone wrong

, a man in his mid twenties was stabbed to death inside a cluster bus near Ashram in Delhi on Thursday evening. The deceased has not been identified yet, police said.

The bus conductor, who was present inside the bus, told the cops that the victim was waiting to get down at the next stop when he realised that his newly purchased mobile phone was missing from his pocket.

Angry, he looked around and found a group of boys dressed up in white shirt and navy blue pants, looking at him and laughing, the conductor told the cops. He frisked them on suspicion that they had stolen his phone, to which the boys took offence and stabbed him in his neck while one of the boys restrained him.

The boys jumped off the moving bus (pictured) and fled.

Fearing that people might catch hold of them, the boys wearing school uniform jumped off the moving bus and fled.

Romil Baaniya, DCP, southeast, said that they have registered a case and have formed teams to nab the accused persons.

Police are trying to ascertain if the accused boys are a part of a gang that hires boys in uniform to pickpocket passengers, so that suspicion can be avoided.
