NEW DELHI: A 12-year run for a murder accused, who disguised himself as a tantrik, came to an end with his arrest in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun. Jamshed Ali Khan was identified as the accused.

Deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Sanjay Sain said the murder happened on January 6, 2009. A body of a 30-year-old man was found on NH 24 near Mayur Vihar red light with hands and legs tied with clothes. A murder case was registered.

The deceased was identified as Santosh Yadav, who worked as a driver at a private company in ICD Tuglaqabad.
During the investigation, five men – Kesar Ali, Wazid Ali, Asim Ali, and Mohd Shakeel – were arrested along with the mastermind, Jamshed Ali Khan, who robbed Yadav's container loaded with 'plastic dana' and killed him after taking a lift in his truck. During the trial, Khan got bail in 2012 and absconded.

The DCP said during the inquiry, they found that Khan was hiding in Badaun.

"The team laid a trap in the Sehswan area of Badaun and finally tracked Khan. He was successfully apprehended from Bhawanipur Kheru village when he came to meet his aide," the DCP added.

Khan was involved in a theft case in Nangloi in 2010. After absconding in 2012, he shifted his entire family from his native place and started living separately. He was doing part-time work as a 'tantrik' in the area.
