NEW DELHI: Delhiites are people of habit. The assembly elections 2003 repeated last time's trends whether it was Moti Nagar constituency polling the maximum number of votes at 62.99 per cent or the fact that R K Puram in south Delhi polled a mere 36.58 per cent.

NEW DELHI: Delhiites are people of habit. The assembly elections 2003 repeated last time’s trends whether it was Moti Nagar constituency polling the maximum number of votes at 62.99 per cent or the fact that R K Puram in south Delhi polled a mere 36.58 per cent.
The number of votes polled were 44,38,497 and voting percentage has increased from last year’s 48.99 per cent to reach 52-53 per cent.

According to the EC, Najafgarh and Trinagar come a close second in polling turnout.
South Delhi residents as usual did not put much of a show with Malviya Nagar recording 47 per cent, Hauz Khas 48 per cent, Saket 49 per cent and Mehrauli polling 51 per cent. Rural constituencies that usual have a fair amount of polling registered a surprising 43 per cent in Tughlaqabad and 47 per cent in Badarpur.
The Walled City was a shade better with Ballimaran registering 55.69 per cent voting, Chandni Chowk 52.45 per cent and Sadar Bazar at 55 per cent. The turnout is similar to last year. Chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s constituency Gole Market polled 43.07 per cent while traditional BJP stronghold Sarojini Nagar polled 45 per cent.
East Delhi scored a high point with Krishna Nagar at 60 per cent while Mandawali brought up the rear with 44.04 per cent voting. Trilokpuri polled 52.11, Patparganj 45.79 and Geeta Colony 56 per cent votes.
