Delhi: Mobile phone catches fire at Metro station

on Saturday morning. The fire was doused by alert CISF and DMRC officials present on the spot. No injuries were reported as the passenger threw his phone on the ground as soon as he saw fumes coming out of it.

Officials said the incident took place at 11.50am in the concourse area of the metro station. The 29-year old passenger, Mrityunjay Singh, was heading towards the escalator when the phone started emitting smoke. CISF officials said the passenger immediately threw the phone on the ground as it had caught fire by then.

Noticing the commotion, a team of CISF personnel as well as DMRC staff present near the spot rushed to the area with a fire extinguisher and bought the fire under control.
