Minor boy injured after schoolmates stabbed in Mayur Vihar
New Delhi: A minor boy was critically injured after he was allegedly stabbed by four juveniles, believed to be his schoolmates, in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar on Sunday. All the accused have been apprehended. They are in the age range of 14 to 15, police said.
According to police, information regarding a boy being injured in an assault was received at Mayur Vihar police station around 9.05 pm on Sunday from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. He was later referred to AIIMS trauma centre for advanced medical treatment, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that the incident took place at around 8.30 pm near Wireless Road. “The boy was present at the location along with a friend when they were allegedly intercepted by four juveniles,” said DCP (east) Rajeev Kumar. “Following a confrontation, the accused assaulted him with a knife and fled the spot.”
A senior police officer said that the victim and one of the accused were known to each other and had an ongoing rivalry stemming from their time in different classes at the same school. Investigators suspect that the assault was a result of this simmering dispute.
A case has been registered, and all four juveniles involved have been apprehended.
