The party actually began on November 7, with Bill Gates’ worldwide TabPC launch in New York, followed by launches in 12 countries. When Gates visited the country last month, he demonstrated the capabilities of Microsoft’s latest gizmo.
Says Karthik Padmanabhan, Microsoft’s senior marketing manager, ‘‘The event in Delhi is the third in India. We started the show from Bangalore, followed by Mumbai.’’ Industry analysts see the Tablet PC as a niche product for a market like India. The company is targeting professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers and government officials .
Padmanabhan said prices would range between Rs 1.75 lakh and Rs 2 lakh. The Tablet PC is being sold by HP, Acer, and Toshiba in India.
