NEW DELHI: The Union ministry of home affairs on Monday prematurely retired 1997-batch Danics officer, AV Prem Nath, from service.
Prem Nath was posted in the urban development department of Delhi government before his suspension in October last year due to a criminal case registered against him for allegedly molesting a minor in Uttarakhand. No reaction was available from Prem Nath.
MHA in its order stated that it was exercising its powers, conferred by the sub-rule 1 of Rule 56(j) of the Fundamental Rules and Rule 42 of CCS (Pension) Rules 1965, to require Prem Nath to retire from service in public interest with immediate effect.
As per the rules, the central government has the 'absolute right to retire' government officials prematurely on the ground of lack of integrity and ineffectiveness, in public interest.
Sources said, MHA sent a separate communication to Delhi chief secretary Naresh Kumar with the copy of the order of the premature retirement to be served on Prem Nath.
Prem Nath has a total of five FIRs registered against him, including one under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act by the anti-corruption branch of Delhi government for allegedly amassing properties disproportionate to the known sources of his income, sources added.
