NEW DELHI: A 41-year-old man has been arrested by the Special Cell of
Delhi Police for allegedly running a medicine racket and alprazolam worth Rs 2 crore was recovered from his possession. Suspect Ashwani Kumar alias Ashu (41), who lives in Rohini Sector-24, was supplying these drugs with three associates, police said.
Ashu, an MBA graduate, was part of the gang involved in procuring and supplying alprazolam, police said, adding his three associates Mohammad Faizan Beg, Mohammad Zubair and Rekha were arrested last month.
Ashu was on the run and changed his hideouts frequently to avoid arrest.
"We received information that he was hiding in Rohini Sector-24. A raid was conducted, and he was apprehended. We recovered 13 cartons of alprazolam 0.5 mg (4,68,000 tablets) at his direction from Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar," a police officer said.
