GURGAON: The body of a 30-year-old call centre employee was recovered from his rented house in Palam Vihar on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Anurag Agnihotri, who was working with IBM Daksh in Gurgaon and lived in house no C1-567, police sources said. Agnihotri belonged to Kanpur. He hadn't been seen since Thursday, after he paid rent to his landlord.
The condition in which the police found his body has raised doubts whether it is a case of murder or suicide. The body has been sent for postmortem and the report is awaited.
Agnihotri's body was discovered when his landlord complained of a foul smell emanating from his room. He immediately called the police who broke the door and found the body. According to sources, blood stains were seen at the spot. But the police said that prima facie it appeared that the deceased had consumed poison and committed suicide. However, no suicide note has been found so far.
"It seems to be a case of poisoning. However, we are investigating all possible angles and it will be clear once we have the investigation report," said S S Deswal, Gurgaon police commissioner.
Cops said there were traces of alcohol found in his room. It is possible that Anurag consumed it and vomited later, they said. His parents and relatives have been informed.
Sources said Agnihotri had a disturbed family life. His father had been married twice and there was some dispute among his family members. This tension may have prompted him to commit suicide, sources said. SHO Palam Vihar Kailash Chand, who is the investigating officer, said that Agnihotri had been disturbed due to the dispute for some time now.
