Delhi shocker: Man stabbed to death in Seemapuri after tiff erupts over assault on wife; 2 detained

NEW DELHI: A man, identified as Akbar Ali Mirza, was stabbed to death during a quarrel that erupted after his wife was allegedly harassed and assaulted by a local youth in Seemapuri, east Delhi, late Monday night.

According to police, a call reporting the incident was received around 11.56 pm on Oct 27.

"The victim's wife stated that she was near her residence in New Seemapuri when a youth known to her, identified as Muslin (18), allegedly hurled abusive and obscene remarks at her. When she protested, he continued to abuse and allegedly assaulted her," said a senior police officer.

"Mirza, who was nearby, intervened to stop the argument. When he tried to mediate, Muslin's relatives arrived and attacked him. One of them allegedly stabbed him multiple times," the officer added.

Mirza suffered multiple stab injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A case under sections for molestation and murder has been registered at Seemapuri police station.

Police said two suspects have been detained, and efforts are on to apprehend the others involved.
