Man run over, witnesses claim driver's minor
NEW DELHI: When Thresimma waved goodbye to her husband before leaving for the hospital, she had no clue that that was the last time she was seeing him. "Had I known this would happen, I would not have let him step out of the house," she said tearfully. 46-yr-old Anthony Joseph, a resident of sector 15 in Rohini, was run over by a car on Friday evening in Pitampura in northwest Delhi when he was on his way back home.

While it was being speculated that a minor was involved in the accident, even 24 hours after the accident the cops have still not tracked down the accused.
According to police sources, Anthony Joseph, an accountant working with a private firm at Jhandewalan, was hit by a Maruti Zen near Pitampura TV Tower around 7 pm on Friday while he was returning from office on his scooter.
He was admitted to a hospital by passers-by but soon succumbed to his injuries. "I had a morning shift, so left early. My children too last met him Friday morning before leaving for school," said an inconsolable Thresimma.
"An eyewitness had noted down the number of the vehicle and had taken the victim to the hospital. We heard a minor was behind the wheels, though no arrests have been made so far," added a neighbour.
According to the police, the car belongs to a resident of Shahdara. The owner is reported to be ill and not in a position to drive. It has not ascertained so far who was driving the car when the incident took place.
"We are investigating the case, though no minor was involved," said additional deputy commissioner of police (northwest) S P Hooda.
