NEW DELHI: A man has been acquitted of the charge of raping a girl by a trial court which said that the girl had turned hostile and also noted that the accused and the girl were married now.
“Keeping in view the testimony of material witness (the girl) and the fact that she has not confirmed the alleged offences by the accused, I am of the opinion that the prosecution has failed to prove the charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt.
Hence, he is entitled for acquittal,” additional sessions judge Sidharth Sharma said.
The girl had told police she was in a relationship with the accused. She said that he had established physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage but later refused to marry her.
