NEW DELHI: Three people have been arrested, and a minor has been apprehended for allegedly murdering a 39-year-old man after he refused to give them a matchbox in northeast Delhi’s Welcome area.The deceased, Aqeel Ahmad, was a resident of the JJ Colony in Welcome area.According to the police, information about a dead body lying near the Jafrabad metro station was received around 10.27 am on March 23 at the Welcome police station. The body was identified, and a case was registered.“Based on technical surveillance and manual inputs, the team traced and nabbed four people,” said DCP (northeast) Ashish Kumar Mishra.Three of the accused, identified as Imran (19), Faizan (23), and Sahil (20), were arrested. A 17-year-old boy was also apprehended.The accused told cops that they had committed the crime after they asked Ahmad for a matchbox and he refused. They had allegedly attacked him on the spot with a knife before fleeing from the spot.Police have seized the knife used in the offence.
