A man, who murdered an acquaintance by setting him afire for having an affair with his wife, has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life by a sessions court.

NEW DELHI: A man, who murdered an acquaintance by setting him afire for having an affair with his wife, has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life by a sessions court.
Holding Mohammad Khursheed guilty of murder under Section 302 of the IPC, additional sessions judge also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on him. The court relied upon the statements of prosecution witnesses, Mohammad Irshad and Arman Khan, who had taken the victim, Mohammad Murtaza, to Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital here after the incident on February 28, 2006.

Both the witnesses deposed the accused was angry with the victim for having an affair with his wife. Even prior to the incident, the accused and the victim had a fight over the issue, they said. Prosecution said, the accused had burnt Murtaza after pouring kerosene on him near Meena Bazar.
