Hathras rape case live updates: FIR against Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and 200 Congress workers in Noida

Taking suo motu cognisance of the death of a Dalit woman, who was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras district, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday. Allahabad HC takes suo motu cognisance

Taking suo motu cognisance of the Hathras incident, a Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Thursday issued notices to the additional chief secretary (Home), director general of police, ADGP (Law and Order), Hathras DM and district police superintendent to appear before it on October 12 to explain their version with requisite materials.

RLSP burns effigy of UP CM over Hathras incident

Over 150 members of Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) burnt the effigy of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Patna to protest against the Hathras gang-rape incident. RLSP leaders said that Yogi should resign immediately. Malti Kushwaha, the general secretary of RLSP said that Yogi Adityanath government and its police have crossed all limits pertaining to this case. (IANS)

UP police should have been more sensitive: BJP MP

UP Police needed to be "more sensitive and responsible" as their actions triggered anger among people following the cremation of the Hathras Dalit woman in dead of night, head of the parliamentary panel on the welfare of SCs/STs and BJP MP Kirit Solanki said on Thursday. Calling the Hathras case "unfortunate," Solanki said he strongly condemns the incident and the guilty should be hanged if the rape charge is proven. (PTI)

Raising questions over the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday demanded that chief minister Yogi Adityanath be replaced or the President's rule imposed in the state.
