LG visits Kamla Nagar, residents market assns list grievances

New Delhi: Lieutenant governor TS Sandhu made an impromptu visit to Kamla Nagar market on Tuesday to hear out the concerns of visitors and market associations.
People spoke about an underground multi-level parking facility lying unused due to a faulty design. “Market association members and pedestrians pointed out the near-total disuse of the automated underground parking, which has a capacity of over 800 vehicles and a mall developed above it. This parking facility has been developed by MCDi,” an official said.
The unscheduled visit to Kamla Nagar allowed the LG to witness first-hand the long-standing problems such as parking shortages, traffic congestion, sanitation problems, hanging wires, and the lack of public utilities.
Sandhu interacted with shopkeepers, shoppers, vendors, tourists, students and residents who raised concerns related to security, women’s safety and high rents in PG accommodations. The LG said he would raise these issues with various departments.
Sandhu walked along the stretch of Bungalow Road before turning into the main market.
Later, he wrote on social media that he savoured “the ever-popular Chache Di Hatti chhole bhature”.
