LG urges youth to leverage future healthcare demands
New Delhi: Lieutenant governor TS Sandhu on Monday urged youth to leverage future healthcare demands globally as they have huge employment opportunity in ageing countries.
Sandhu said during the founder’s day celebrations at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital that in the coming time, healthcare would be an important sector, especially as many advanced countries were ageing. “India, on the other hand, is a relatively young country, with an average age of around 28 years, with more than 50% of the population being below the age of 28,” he said. “In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-ji’s call of ‘youth for global good’, if we were to train and skill our youth in advanced healthcare -- clinical as well as nursing and paramedical, there is a huge market abroad waiting to employ them.”
Underlining the critical role of healthcare institutions in national development, Sandhu stated that access to quality healthcare was essential for human well-being, social stability and economic progress. He also acknowledged the contribution of doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and support staff, noting that institutions are ultimately sustained by the dedication and service of individuals working with a shared sense of purpose.
